‘Special visa for foreigners seeking AYUSH therapy,’ says PM in Gujarat
PM in Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit in Gandhinagar on Wednesday (April 20, 2022).
WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, was present there when PM Modi announced that India will create a special AYUSH visa category for foreign nationals who want to visit the country to benefit from traditional medicine.
To address the growing demand for traditional medicine among foreign nationals, PM Modi stated, “Soon, India will introduce a special AYUSH visa category for foreign nationals who want to come to India to take advantage of AYUSH therapy.”
Prime Minister Modi stated that the opportunities for investment and innovation in the field of AYUSH are limitless.
He said, “We are already seeing an unprecedented increase in the production of AYUSH medicines, supplements, and cosmetics.”
“We’re going to create a unique AYUSH trademark. This seal will be applied to the best Ayush products made in India “PM Modi added.
The Prime Minister stated that it is critical that farmers who grow medicinal plants have the ability to easily connect with the market.
According to him, the government is also working on modernising and expanding the AYUSH e-marketplace for this purpose.
“So far this year, 14 startups have joined the unicorn club, and I am confident that unicorns will emerge from the AYUSH ecosystem,” PM said.
Director-General of WHO speech during the inauguration ceremony
Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), said at the opening ceremony of the three-day Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit at Mahatma Mandir in Gujarat that he was “privileged to come to the land of Mahatma Gandhi.”
“Long-term strategic investments, as well as government commitment, required to support the innovation ecosystem for medicine in general, and traditional medicine in particular,” said the world health organization’s top official.
The Director General also urged “innovators, industry, and government to develop traditional medicine in an environmentally sensitive, equitable, and sustainable manner.”
“When introducing traditional medicines into markets, we must ensure that the communities that nurtured and passed on this knowledge benefit from their development,” Ghebreyesus said.
The Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, and Sarbananda Sonowal, Union AYUSH minister, were also present at the inaugural event.

CM, Gujrat praises PM Modi’s efforts in the advancement of traditional medicine
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel spoke on the occasion, praising PM Modi’s efforts in Yoga and traditional medicine.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts have given Yoga and, for the time being, traditional medicine a place in the world.” People all over the world are turning to traditional medicine. “It’s time to shift our focus to preventive medicine,” he said.
PM in Gujarat: praises AYUSH kadha
PM Modi also praised the AAYUSH Kadha for “boosting people’s immunity” during the pandemic.
“This is the first time an investment summit for the AYUSH sector has been held. This occurred to me during the Covid-19 outbreak. ‘AYUSH Kada’ and other similar products have helped people boost their immunity during this time,” he said.
To harness the potential of Ayush systems to contain the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Ayush launched several R&D and public health initiatives.
In addition, the Ministry worked with several research organizations to encourage, promote, and advance evidence-based research on Ayush systems.
