Covid Vaccine soon for children aged 5-12? As the covid cases increase drastically this month and the report comes in of a clump outbreak in schools in Delhi-NCR.
The Subject expert committee of the Drug Regulator DCGI will be holding a meeting today, April 21 to talk about the use of Biological E’s Corbevax for the kids aged from 5 to 12 years old.
Government sources said that the SEC conference is scheduled at meridian and will likely to discuss the recommendations on restricted emergency use of Corbevax.
The Vaccine is currently being administered to children in the age group of 12 to 14 years old.
In India, the Covid-19 vaccination for kids had jerked off on January 3rd for the children of age group 15 to 18 being vaccinated first.
The endeavor was extended on March 16 to include children aged above 12 years old. India is currently administering two covid vaccines to children aged above 12.
Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin is presently being given to children in the age group of 15-18 years at private and government vaccination centres.
Whereas, Biological E’s Corbevax is being regulated only in the government vaccination center for kids of age group 12 to 14 years old.
In India, the Corbevax vaccine is an indigenously developed Receptor Binding Domain (RBD) protein subunit vaccine against the Corona virus, which uses similar technology as the Hepatitis-B vaccines.
The vaccine is conducted through an intramolecular route with two doses scheduled for 28 days apart.
Current Situation of the nation due to increasing Covid-19 infection
